Taking a fishing trip with a guide during your Banana River Fishing
Guide for redfish, trout, snook or tarpon is one of the most exciting ways to spend a day in the great outdoors. The Banana River lagoon is one of the most diverse and exciting lagoons to fish in our nation and it's not uncommon to catch all four of our prominent species in one outing. While visiting our lagoon and letting a fishing guide take you out you'll often see manatees, porpoise or dolphin, bald eagles and other wildlife on or around the Banana River.
The Banana River has great sea trout fishing almost all year long, however there are better times than others to find larger "gator" sized trout. Some anglers just want to catch trout despite the size and there's better time for that too.
Generally speaking the late fall winter and spring are more productive times for bigger trout and the summer is a great time to catch the small under 15 inch models in the deeper grass flats. The best times to catch quantities of large trout are between cold fronts in late January thru March and during the spawn in March, April and May.
Our Sea Trout fishing was considered the best in the world until commercial fishing decimated the fish until 1992 when Florida voted on the constitutional amendment to ban all inshore nets from three miles inward. The spotted sea trout have rebounded since the net band and Florida's Central east coast is gaining back it's notoriety for being a spotted sea trout destination again.
Hello,
All winter long we wait for the big Banana River trout to make their showing and spawn so I can guide my customers to a successful day of fishing on the clear lagoons around Cocoa Beach and Merritt Island. We are often treated with a bonus fish called snook during the warmer weather, which is an excellent table fish (probably the best in the lagoon). Small snook are abundant and easily caught when the weather starts to warm around may and the Banana River and it's canals are a great place to start looking for some great action on fly and artificials. When guiding on the Banana River lagoon for spotted sea trout and other fish, I often find that live bait will attract bites from larger fish of the species.
As always I look forward to hearing from many of you soon, if you need to contact Captain Gina and setup a charter please call her at (321) 868-4953 or just fill out the form on the left.
God Bless,

"Captain Richard takes me fishing every winter for large sea trout on our coastline. I've never been disappointed in any of the fishing trips he's guided me on in the Banana River home waters. It's always fun."

Here we go! It's September and the Banana River is cooling down and the fall mullet run will start. It's a great time to fish the Banana because the fish are looking to get those extra calories before the winter sets in. Food is plentiful and so ar the gamefish during September so count on good numbers of fish and a mix of several species. Redfish, snook, sea trout and tarpon along with jacks, ladyfish and sharks on the Banana River Lagoon as we approach start the fall. The winds tend to try and pickup in September, but it's often mild and calm for days and sometimes longer. Look for the early morning and late evening bite to be the best and then things to be slower in the mid-day.
